Serving the Community with the Texas Rangers’ Spirit Since 1974
Mission
“We are together because we love baseball.”
Our History
The Rangers sponsored a picnic with manager Billy Martin and the players in July 1974 for women interested in the organization. The first meeting of the Texas Rangers Women’s Club (TRWC) was held at the Ramada Inn in Arlington, Tx at 7:00pm on August 22, 1974. Philip R Jasen, Public Relations Director for the Texas Rangers, conducted the meeting. There were 263 women attending, including 14 newcomers who became members on August 22nd, plus 30 who had sent in their checks but couldn’t attend the meeting.
The first order of business was selecting the name for the club. It was unanimously voted that the Club shall be called Texas Rangers Women’s Club. The name clearly describes the functions and needs no further explanation.
There were three projects of the Club defined at the meeting:
The Club will raise funds, through cake bakes, auctions, garage sales, suppers, etc. in order that we may bring Senior Citizens and needy children to the ball games during the season of 1975.
It was unanimously agreed that the Club will have as one of its projects the selection of “The Umpire of the Year”. All of the umpires will be graded by the performance at the Texas Ranger games at home, and also any notoriety they may be involved in away from Texas.
Fan Clubs-The Texas Rangers’ club has received many requests about Youngster Fan Clubs. The TRWC members voted unanimously that they will appoint sponsors within their own organization, each member representing a Ranger, and form a fan club for the particular player she represents.
